High Level Line - June 2020 Update

High Level Line has been pretty quiet lately. Why? Simply put, there’s more important things going on in our city right now.

The High Level Line Society board feels that it isn’t right to be fundraising and building support for High Level Line when everyone’s lives are put on pause and greater causes need attention.

High Level Line Society was just about to follow up with the City’s Urban Planning Committee when the state of emergency was called. Rightfully so, everyone’s health and safety became the priority, and it still is.

Now, as our city, nation, and communities all over the world are looking in the mirror and recognizing the systemic racism and inequality that has been going on for far too long, it continues to be the wrong time to actively seek support from the public for High Level Line.

Right now, if you have time, energy, or funds, there are other groups in urgent need of your support that help vulnerable populations through the pandemic and advocate for social justice.

You’ll hear more from us when we get the chance to present to the City again, and when the time is right to pick up where we left off. Thanks to everyone for your continued support, and for doing what you can to help make the city even better. If you’re out on a socially-distanced walk in the core, take notice of the disconnections along High Level Line and imagine what it could be: a welcoming place that meaningfully connects all people who use the space to each other and nature.
