Learn more about the team that wants to bring High Level Line to life.
“It’s truly exciting to imagine this linear park as a gathering place overlooking our breathtaking valley and connecting our city.”
-MAYOR DON IVESON on High Level Line
The current site of High Level Line consists of a series of disconnected and underutilized spaces in the heart of Edmonton. The surrounding properties turn their back, rather than engage with, the Line. Today, pedestrians and cyclists must cross a number of large, auto-focused streets to travel along the entire length of the Line.
High Level Line extends 4.3km from MacEwan University (and the cycle track on 105 Avenue) all the way to Whyte Avenue at Gateway Boulevard. It utilizes the old Canadian Pacific Railway right-of-way through Strathcona, Garneau, the North Saskatchewan River valley, and Oliver.
It goes over, under and through.
So, how are we going to do it?
With three ingredients: connectivity, experience, activation.
